Austin is my little brother and one of my heroes. He is a professional cyclist living in Europe, and he's chasing his dreams everyday. At the time he just got back from a stint in France which (obviously) made me think of what it would look like to see a frog riding a bicycle. When you are chasing your dreams, you're in heaven, and a frog in heaven would be chasing bugs. It makes perfect sense to me. I spent so much time in the children's section of the public library researching pictures of frogs and bugs the librarians asked me what I was doing there. Look closely, because this frog is anatomically correct. Eat your heart out Kermit. This piece resides with Barney and Gera King of Phoenix, Arizona.
In February 2007 I teamed up with PrettyDarnSwell to create limited edition Giclee prints of Ode to Austin. It was a wonderful expirence, proceeds went to the New Orleans area Habitat for Humanity. If that wasn't sweet enough, turns out PrettyDarnSwell was contacted by the Cannes Film Festival about adding prints to their infamous celebrity gift bags. PrettyDarnSwell chose four artist's works to represent the group and Ode to Austin was one of them. Austin returns to France.
