Aimee and I moved to Tucson just under two years ago. We moved from downtown Phoenix (which was completely devoid of insects) to the west side of Tucson. My backyard was a desert wash. My neighbors went from over sexed, thirty-something's climbing the corporate ladder, to tarantulas, wolf spiders, and scorpions (lots of scorpions, everywhere, all the time.) I really believe everything has a purpose and a place, but no insect's place should be in my shower or in my bed. This piece has a lot to do with bugs but even more to do with fear. Aimee and I came to Tucson to create a better life for ourselves. We were leaving behind everything, friends, family, jobs, and familiarity. Aimee was going to get her Bachelors degree; I was trying to be a full time artist. One big scary leap of faith. For a long time we were unhappy and ready to move back to Phoenix at the drop of a hat, but fear is a funny thing. When you stand up and look the bugs in the eye you'll realize not a single one will hurt you. Now, I am a full time artist, becoming better than I ever thought I could be, and aimee is getting her Masters degree at the number one ranked university for her discipline. This piece has been sold to Steve and Maxine Murray. Thanks
